Warehouse Mechanic

We are seeking a full-time Warehouse Mechanic to perform assemble, maintenance and repair duties out of our The Woodlands, Texas division.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assembly, maintenance, and repair of construction (refractory) equipment, machinery, tools and vehicles ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines, electrical motors and mechanical systems
  • Ensure that the warehouse is clean, organized and stocked. Updating inventory will be required
  • Warehouse Technician will be qualified to operate a forklift and/or scissor-lift and will assist with moving loads (on and off site) when requested
  • Willing to travel and temporarily  deployed as a mechanic on a construction site as needed


POSITION DUTIES

  • Conduct all work safely and efficiently
  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
  • Inspect machines, engines, tools, etc, and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components, replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
  • Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.)
  • Keep logs of work and report on issues
  • Sweep and clean warehouse floors keeping walkways clean and free of content and debris. Always practice good housekeeping to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite
  • Maintain warehouse (and office) lights, doors, crates (used for content storage) and fire extinguishers ensuring functionality and organizing 3rd party repairs with the Health and Safety procedures
  • Order, maintain, organize and inventory of approved supplies, consumables and company equipment and tools
  • Scan equipment and consumables to/from warehouse to/from truck or job site using approved software
  • Prepare and review reports for equipment and consumables tracking
  • Assist with repositioning, loading, and unloading of equipment and content for restoration, storage and return to job sites as required
  • Deliver and pick up materials as needed
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
  • Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding company property and information
  • Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment
  • Comply with all KARRENA policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements
  • Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate person
  • Coordinate with other company warehouses when preparing tools and equipment for construction site


QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Driver’s license
  • Forklift driver certification or experience (licensing will be provided by KARRENA)
  • Very good physical strength and stamina
  • High school diploma is preferred; certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a plus
  • Basic welding skills
  • Construction experience preferred. Refractory construction is a definite plus
  • Familiarity with chemical products: use, disposal, and application of Safety Data Sheets
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience
  • Willing to work evenings, on call, and weekends when requested
  • Periodic travel may be required

  • Drug Test Required
  • Auto mechanic experience preferred
